It happened once and then it was gone. A gap in the cloud, perfectly round, the valley visible through it like something from a dream. My camera wasn't ready. The moment was already over.
So I waited. Two hours on a cold seat at Cahill's Lookout, watching the cloud move and shift and almost form and not quite form. Wondering if it was one of those things that only happens once.
