The Fine Art Print Process

For me, the photograph is only complete when it takes shape as a print. The transition from image on screen to paper in hand is not a technical step, but a transformation; one that breathes permanence and presence into the work. In a world of fleeting digital images, the fine art print offers weight, longevity, and a tangible connection to place.

Printing as Craft

Each of my prints is realised in collaboration with Steve at Base White Printing, a master printer whose expertise ensures absolute fidelity to the vision I hold for each image. We work with the Epson SureColor P20070, a large-format printer known for its exceptional tonal depth and archival permanence. Only genuine Epson inksets are used, chosen for their stability and proven endurance over time.

Every image is printed on Canson Rag Photographique 310gsm. This museum-grade, 100% cotton paper has a rich history in printmaking and is revered by collectors and institutions alike. Its smooth, matte surface allows for an extraordinary range of tones and subtle textures, while its acid-free, OBA-free composition guarantees that each print is built to last for generations.

Framing with Intention

I frame each work at Three Edge Framing and Gallery, the workshop and gallery I own in Sydney. By controlling this stage of the process myself, I ensure that every detail — from the cut of the mat to the finish of the timber — reflects the same standard of care that went into the image itself.

Collectors may choose from a selection of black, white, or oak frames, each designed to provide a timeless presentation that complements rather than competes with the work. For those seeking something more bespoke, I offer custom consultations, tailoring each frame to the collector’s space and vision. Every frame is constructed with archival materials, protecting the integrity of the work well into the future.

Limited Editions & Authenticity

Each work is released in a defined limited edition, with edition sizes kept intentionally small. Once an edition is sold out, no further prints will be produced in that size, preserving both rarity and value. Every print is signed, numbered, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity confirming its place within the edition.

My current limited edition sizes are:

  • 10” x 15” — 40 prints

  • 16” x 24” — 30 prints

  • 30” x 45” — 20 prints

In addition to these, I also occasionally release additional works to be made available as open edition prints. To be the first to here of new releases, sign up to my mailing list below.

Packaging & Shipping

The journey of an artwork does not end at the studio door, and great care is taken in preparing each piece for delivery.

  • Unframed works are interleaved with acid-free tissue, rolled into archival sleeves, and shipped in rigid mailing tubes designed to withstand handling.

  • Framed works are fitted with protective corners, wrapped, and boxed securely, with acrylic glazing used in place of glass to ensure safe transport.

  • Shipping is currently available within Australia only and will be available international shortly.

Care for Longevity

When properly cared for, fine art prints will retain their richness and vitality for generations. The greatest enemies of a print are direct sunlight, fluctuations in temperature or humidity, and improper handling. For display, it is recommended that works are hung away from strong light sources and areas of moisture, such as kitchens or bathrooms. Archival mats and UV-protective glazing will provide further protection, helping to preserve both the colour and integrity of the paper.

It is best to avoid touching the surface of the print with bare hands, as natural oils can leave marks that may damage the work over time. If a print is not immediately framed, it should be stored flat in a cool, dry environment. Retaining the original acid-free packaging will offer the greatest level of protection, ensuring the work remains as vibrant and stable as the day it was created.

The landscapes I photograph exist far beyond the moment of capture. Through careful printmaking, I aim to give them permanence — to create works that can live with you, carry memory, and endure. Each print is not just a reproduction, but a continuation of place, light, and time, made tangible for generations to come.
