The sedum was having a good season. The flower heads were full and the pink was almost unreasonably bright for a garden that otherwise plays it pretty cool. Apparently the beetle agreed with this assessment. It had been working its way across the blooms for a while before anyone noticed, too focused on the job to pay attention to what was happening around it.
